Land Acknowledgment

I humbly and respectfully acknowledge that my work takes place on the stolen territories of the Nêhiyaw/ Cree, Dene, Anishinaabe/Saulteaux, Nakota Isga/Nakota Sioux, and Niitsitapi/Blackfoot peoples. I also provide services to people who are Indigenous to other areas, settler colonial people who now reside on this land, and people who have immigrated to these lands by choice, by refugees, or as descendants of enslaved people. I acknowledge the long and continuing history of colonization and Indigenous peoples resistance to it, in particular the harm, violence, and racism towards Indigenous people that has occurred in health care settings. I am committed to anti-colonial work and understand I am on a journey of learning that does not end. I am grateful for the voices of Indigenous peoples who have shared their experiences, spoken against systems of violence, nurtured traditional healing practices, and who continue to pursue Indigenous self-governance.

Everyone is Welcome

As someone who welcomes and strives to serve all people, I believe that inclusive language is a way of acknowledging and respecting the diversity of bodies, genders and relationships. People experience and express their gender and sexuality in different ways. People have different biological sex characteristics.

Inclusive language ensures we don’t leave people out of our conversations or our work. Inclusive language acknowledges the diversity of people we work with and serve. Throughout this website I have intentionally chosen to use a variety of language to describe bodies, identities and relationships with the intention of representing diversity. I also wish to recognize that language is powerful and highly personal, sensitive, dynamic and, as such, will change. I strive to be as current and inclusive as possible and welcome feedback on ways to improve my language use. I have taken my current language direction from BCCDC and TransCare BC.

2SLGBTQIA+ flag for diversity and inclusive chiropractic care. Health care that respects everyone.
